Health is Wealth
Health is Wealth is a weekly wellbeing programme created to support women in developing healthier, more confident lifestyles. The sessions offer space for reflection, conversation and learning, with a focus on making small, meaningful changes that can have a lasting impact.

Workshops explore the relationship between daily habits and overall health, encouraging women to think about how nutrition, physical activity, stress and medical awareness play a role in their wellbeing. Participants are supported through goal-setting exercises and individual check-ins, creating an environment where progress is personal and celebrated at every stage.

Before joining Health is Wealth, Salma felt her diet and daily habits were not supporting her wellbeing. She often relied on sweet foods and didn’t feel motivated to stay active. Through the programme, she began to view food as nourishment and became more thoughtful about what she eats.
Salma noticed a significant difference in her physical health. She experienced aches in her legs previously, but after learning strength exercises and using resistance bands in the fitness sessions, this pain reduced. She was also given online resources to help her continue exercising at home, which helped her build confidence and consistency.
She also learnt that her sugar cravings were linked to low protein intake, and has since increased her protein consumption. After taking part in the juicing workshop, she now prepares a weekly green juice which she shares with her family, and has found it helps soothe her daughter’s eczema.

Emotionally, the programme has helped Salma feel less isolated. As a stay-at-home mother, she sometimes lacked opportunities to speak openly with others. The group’s “share and listen” sessions provided connection, understanding, and reassurance. She now feels more confident attending health programmes, making healthy food choices, and exercising independently.

Salma’s words:
“The staff were wonderful and made each session enjoyable. I liked meeting new people and really enjoyed the fitness classes that ran alongside the workshops. I even messaged to ask about more programmes I could join, because I want to continue improving my health.”
